In the meantime that I'm waiting for other interesting promo kits from Art Gates Records, this review is about an album that this Spanish label sent me some months ago. The title of this album is "Skärvor" and the band is called Harmdaud. For the truth, we are talking about a Swedish one-man band guided by Andreas Stenlund that, with "Skärvor", published his second album under the moniker of Harmdaud, a word in Swedish language that stands, in according to an interview I read, for "death of sorrow" or for "death by sorrow". And now let me say that we are in presence of a very good black metal album!

On 29th April 2019 two power violence bands from England went here in Rome to play at Trecentosessantagradi in a gig organized by Go! Fest. They are known as Endless Swarm (from Scotland) and Nothing Clean (from UK), and believe me that they crushed all the attendants by spewing forth a huge intensity and a brutal violence like few others. But this live report will be fast and brutal as the bands involved, so let's start already with it!

4 mesi fa mi è arrivato per posta qualche disco sfizioso da parte di A. Schizoid, chitarrista e fondatore dei Malauriu. Entrambi pubblicati dall'italianissima Southern Hell Records, si tratta di "Morte" degli stessi Malauriu (rilasciato con il supporto di un'altra etichetta italiana, la Land of Fog) ed "Answers to Human Hypocrisy" di Felis Catus, cioè il progetto solista di Francesco Cucinotta degli storici Sinoath (gruppo fra l'altro presente nel mio saggio "Nel Segno del Marchio Nero"). Oggi prenderemo in esame il primo disco, il nuovo EP (anche se ormai è uscito da un anno esatto) dei siciliani Malauriu, un quintetto nato solo nel 2013 ma già con una nutrita discografia (composta anche da un album nel 2017) e che vanta in formazione importanti protagonisti della scena black metal siciliana come il batterista Frozen (già più volte ospitato su queste pagine con i gruppi Arcanum Inferi, Lilyum e Krigere Wolf), il cantante Venor (ex-Beasts of Torah) e lo stesso Felis Catus come tastierista. Preparatevi quindi a un folle martirio black metal di tutto rispetto!

After the dark metal band Arkaid, today is another incursion in the so-called "light metal" thanks to the excellent Spanish label Art Gates Records. In fact, these Khous are a Spanish quartet born in 2001 as an alternative metal band. With the years, they made their music in a more aggressive way so to be nowadays a metalcore band, as perfectly expressed into their "Geroaren haziak". This is their third album and, if I understood well, is the last part of a homonymous trilogy consisting also of the two EPs entitled "Itsukeria" (2013) and "Fedea" (2014). Important to say, all the tracks of both the EPs are into the same album with the result that, including also the new songs, it has an incredible amount of numbers. But into it you'll find a form of metalcore that I don't like so much...

Ultimately Art Gates Rec sent me some "light" albums that don't belong to the usual extreme standards of Timpani allo Spiedo. An example of this is "Mind Pollution" of the Italian alternative metal band New Disorder. And another example comes from the band reviewed today. In fact, now you are going to read the review of "Crematoria", the debut album of Arkaid, a Swedish quartet born in 2013 that, strong of an amazing aesthetics (see the pic band below), offers a very particular mix of styles.

La settimana scorsa è stata piena di bei concerti al 360, anche con gruppi stranieri. Infatti, il 29 aprile c'è stata la serata powerviolence organizzata dal Go! Fest con i gruppi inglesi Endless Swarm e Nothing Clean, che hanno entrambi scatenato una vera baraonda giù nel pit e di cui, forse, prima o poi, farò il report. Invece, il 4 maggio c'è stata una bella (ma un po' sfortunata!) serata thrash metal messa su dalla Rotten Inc. che ha visto il release party del 7° album "Motel 666", uscito per conto della leccese Blasphemous Art Records, degli storici speed/thrashers romani Fingernails. E proprio oggi eccovi il report di questa serata, durante la quale ci hanno massacrato debitamente i timpani non solo i Fingernails ma pure altri tre gruppi, anch'essi romani. Scopriamo insieme cos'è successo!
