Onryo+Nothing Clean+Endless Swarm+Inglorious Basterds+Mind/Knot (Rome, 29th April 2019)

On 29th April 2019 two power violence bands from England went here in Rome to play at Trecentosessantagradi in a gig organized by Go! Fest. They are known as Endless Swarm (from Scotland) and Nothing Clean (from UK), and believe me that they crushed all the attendants by spewing forth a huge intensity and a brutal violence like few others. But this live report will be fast and brutal as the bands involved, so let's start already with it!

The first band to play was Mind/Knot. This was their debut gig but, unfortunately, I couldn't able to see them because I went late. Anyway, this hardcore punk band (that released their first 7-song demo few months ago) is playing a lot on stage, so I'll have another chance to see them since they'll play at the Till Death Fest on 1st June 2019.

The next maniacs are Inglorious Basterds. Fuck, I love their moniker taken from a Tarantino's movie...and I love their music, too! This all-star band consisting of members from other notable acts such as Ultimo Mondo Cannibale, Sudden Death and Lapida plays a sort of devastating and savage combination between brutal death metal and grindcore with two singers that, throughout their exhibition, destroyed their vocal chords under the stage, face to face with the public. Still no moshing but the music was truly fukken perfect to mosh! Ha, mind you, also this gig of Inglorious Basterds was their very first one, as exactly like Mind/Knot.

An ultra-intense performance in the sign of power violence with Nothing Clean, that finally, for the first time in the night, pushed us to mosh like madmen as it should be! Their power violence is truly sharp and also noisy in some cases with moments of exaggerated violence. I think that their demented singer is THE fury in its most quintessential form!

The campaign for musical destruction continued with Endless Swarm. Of them, I vividly remember not only their bassplayer for his funny faces but also their guitarist with sea green hair and a Celtic football club shirt. Plus, at a certain point, after trying to stage dive but in vain, I was able to surf dive because someone (the bassplayer of Nothing Clean? I don't remember well) pulled me up for first! Great!

After this total delirium, the math/grindcore band Onryo closed the night with an amazing performance made, as usual for them, of surgical precision, absurd structures and an arithmetic violence, a lethal combination that's really perfect if you would like to have a headache! Funny was the moment in which the singer Daniel invited Randie, his mate in the blackcore band Tibia, to "sing" the childish intro of "Virgola", bringing to a result crazier than the usual! It seems that Onryo will not play for a long time because they are working on their first album, so attending to this gig was mandatory for various reasons.

In conclusion, this gig was very fuckin' great! Excellent were the Italian bands (all coming from Rome) and outstanding were the two talented bands from England, that, in that period, were on an European tour, sharing the stage also with other Italian acts like Crisis Benoit. Ok, maybe I published too late this live report but, sincerely, fuck that! I think that the next gig in which I'll go will be the Fest organized by the HC punk collective Till Death at CSOA Spartaco, so see you there, brutalbangers!
