As I promised into the review about their split with Desekryptor, Draghkar are back on these pages with their fantastic new EP "The Endless Howling Abyss"! Thanks to this release, there has been a real revolution into this band. In fact, they changed their logo (as you can already see through the cover artwork of the EP), shoot their first pic and even played their first gigs by shortly touring in the West Coast of California in August 2018. But what's about "The Endless Howling Abyss"?

Released by the Mexican label Craneo Negro Records, "The Endless Howling Abyss" is surely the best Draghkar release to date! It see 4 songs in which BW and co. show an old-school death metal played with great dynamicity and also influenced by different genres that can bring even to solutions a little bit strange for a band once inspired a lot by the Finnish death metal. To name some examples, "Swallowed by the Dark" is thrashing like "Stealing the Keys to Nothingness" (their track into the aforementioned split) but with plenty of hardcore punk influences. Instead, the final number "Fading into Emptiness" (my favorite song, absolutely!) is really great for various reasons, included some hypnotizing riffs and some strong black metal passages in which BW sings through a theatrical clean vocal style in a way very close to Attila Csihar in "De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas".

2018 has been a very busy year for this young band, so I think that "The Endless Howling Abyss" is the coronation of all their efforts so far. Okay, it isn't perfect (for instance, the 6-minute opening song "Traversing the Abyss" doesn't always works due to not so fluid passages) while, after a while, the agonizing growls of BW are a little bit weak. Anyway, this EP keeps high the fame of a band that's building an interesting sound. And also interesting stories since even "The Endless Howling Abyss" is conceptual, as now it's a tradition for Draghkar. At this point, I would like to interview them in the future days to come.

P.S.:

in these days I am literally submerged by a bunch of death metal annihilations, so please check out some of my last reviews about great bands like Wrathrone, Morbid Messiah and Fervent Hate.
