Ma di splittini grind ne abbiamo?

Beh, eccome se ne abbiamo! E ve ne darò una piccola dimostrazione con questo articoletto in cui, da amante sfegatato di questo tipo di sonorità (insomma, ci ho scritto un libro di 536 pagine, mica cazzi!), vi parlerò di 3 split, ognuno con 2 gruppi a testa, di cui almeno uno italiano. Perché si sta avvicinando il Play Fast, il festival romano più grindviolence che ci sia anche perché figlio del compianto Go! Fest e la cui edizione si terrà fra 2 mesi, esattamente il 28 marzo 2026 allo Spartaco, uno dei miei cs preferiti. Purtroppo, il primo Play Fast, tenutosi il 19 luglio 2025 al Traffic, l'ho saltato ignominiosamente causa lavoro, e ho rosicato tantissimo anche per via dei tantissimi ospiti internazionali in cartellone, tipo i belgi Travølta o gli australiani Meth Leppard. Urge quindi rimediare quest'anno. Lentamente si stanno conoscendo i protagonisti del fest ma per ora sono stati ufficializzati soltanto i Disforia, gruppo meraviglioso con cui 2 anni fa ho avuto l'onore di condividere il palco insieme ai miei Quattro Lire Vigliacche. Skulld - "Reinventing Darkness" (DIY co-production, 2020)

In March of 2020, so in full quarantine times, a video about an Italian metalhead covering the Slayer's "Raining Blood", that he dedicated to an old woman owning a famous kiosk in her small town (Bertinoro), became literally viral. I remember I had a lot of fun to watch that very short video! But only in these days I realized that that metalhead effectively plays the guitar in a death metal band. That band is called Skulld (after Skuld, a Norn in the Norse mythology that, along with other two Norns, has the power to decide the fate of the people), a quintet coming from two Italian regions, Lombardy and Emilia-Romagna, that published so far two releases since their foundation in 2018: a demo and the EP "Reinventing Darkness", both in 2019. Well, I received this last one from a friend of mine running the amazing webzine Blog Thrower (shame that it's on hold since June 2020!), that produced "Reinventing Darkness" in a DIY co-production with other 12 metal and punk labels. They are too much to be all listed but some of them were already featured on these pages such as Italian Extreme Underground, Hecatombe Records, Pirate Crew Records (I met his owner during the Marci su Roma 2 Fest) and SFA Records. This connection with the punk world isn't a case because every member of the Skulld comes just from hardcore punk since, for example, the aforementioned video star, Enrico, plays also in bands like NoWhiteRag, the drummer Teo in the Contrasto while the other guitarplayer, Rappo, is into even in a great black/death metal act of the calibre of Hierophant. And don't forget that we are in presence of a band with fantastic values such as antifascism and antisexism. All this is fukken awesome... but is also "fukken awesome" "Reinventing Darkness" in its entirety? FUCK YEAAAAH!

Explosive split EP between two devastating bands belonging to the most violent hardcore punk spectrum. The first one is called Herida Profunda and, despite their moniker (that stands for "deep wound" in Spanish), comes from Poland, even though one of their members comes from UK. Instead, the other group is called Hello Bastards, that are 3 UK vegan and straight-edge gentlemen, without the bassplayer, coming from London. Their split is really explicit starting from its cover artwork, that present a strong message against the nationalistic, racist and xenophobic deviations arising in these last years.

You know, I love to support the rawer and most-old-school forms of extreme metal but, sometimes, you can find on these pages bands with a more technical and modern approach. For example, this is the case of Spectral, an excellent trio from Romania whose debut album was reviewed here some months ago. And today it's the case of Godless Enthropia, a promising quintet from Italy that, after being founded in 2012 from the ashes of the death/thrash metal act Beyond the Unholy Truth, released this year their debut album "Tetracyclic Dominion" under the auspices of Symbol of Domination Productions along with Hecatombe Records. Coming from Turin (surely one of the most beautiful cities of my country!), Godless Enthropia were founded with the intentions to create something creative also taking inspirations from non-metal genres, so to surpass the classic borders of the extreme metal. Now let's start to see how those ambitious intentions became reality with this debut album!

After a black metal break with the French band Geisterfels, today there's new room for some death metal onslaught! Specifically, this is the review about the third album of a quartet coming from Cyprus, a nation surely not famous for its metal bands. If I remember well, these Vomitile are just the first band from Cyprus ever reviewed by me! And, as a first time into the realm of the so-called Cy metal, I must say I started very well since "Pure Eternal Hate" strikes as it should be. What labels released it? The Spanish Hecatombe Records along with Satanath Records, that now is a regular presence on these demented pages since the "far" December 2017.
