Explosive split EP between two devastating bands belonging to the most violent hardcore punk spectrum. The first one is called Herida Profunda and, despite their moniker (that stands for "deep wound" in Spanish), comes from Poland, even though one of their members comes from UK. Instead, the other group is called Hello Bastards, that are 3 UK vegan and straight-edge gentlemen, without the bassplayer, coming from London. Their split is really explicit starting from its cover artwork, that present a strong message against the nationalistic, racist and xenophobic deviations arising in these last years.

Herida Profunda, that, incredibly, released a split not only with Hello Bastards but also with the Hellbastard (the British crust legends) in 2015, make this message completely clear with an opening track aptly titled "Refugees Welcome". This starts at a slow pace with guitar arpeggios and samples of TV-news. After this intro, the band explodes with raging violence by playing a destructive and intense grindcore attack with crust punk/d-beat parts, some metal influences, and vocals divided between doglike growls and spastic screams. The following song "Need to Grind" is a whole program since its title but a real surprise hit the listeners with the third and final song by Herida Profunda. In fact, "Grind You in the Back" is nothing else than a demented grinding cover of "Shoot You in the Back" of Motörhead! Fantastic cover with a great chaotic guitar solo! I like a lot when a band plays creatively a cover far, if not very far, from their typical style (see also Amoclen with their absurd version of a pop song). It's for this reason that I don't love so much the covers that are really stick to the originals since, in this way, they are so predictable.

After the 3 songs of Herida Profunda, now it's time to be bombarded by the 6 tracks created with atrocious love by Hello Bastards. These ones plays in a similar way to Herida Profunda but with a strong power violence vein. This means that you must expect a purest hardcore punk approach and also shorter songs, but two of them ("Making Hardcore, Punk Again" and "Zapatistas!") are so short to last only 6-7 seconds! There is also a little experimentation in the "Intro", that see a curious collaboration of ethnic music with the Indonesian band Hanyaterra.

All in all, this split, released in 2017 in a co-production between 5 labels (WOOAAARGH, Deviance, 783 Punx, Hecatombe Rec, and N.I.C. Rec) is really devastating throughout its 9 songs for 9 minutes circa. Of the two bands, I liked particularly Herida Profunda, that plays in a more creative way while Hello Bastards are more minimalistic, and I must say that I don't love so much the ultra-mini songs, especially when they are even 2 out of 6 in so few minutes. Said all this, we are talking about bands that, in according to the workaholic hardcore punk and grindcore tradition, are very active in the live front in order to play literally around the world, so check out their own FB pages to keep you updated about them. For the moment, I say only that Herida Profunda, that now have a new bassplayer into their line-up, will participate in the new Fluff Fest edition while Hello Bastards, that in 2017 gigged in Italy playing also in my city (Rome), are preparing a tour even in the South East Asia!
