Honorable Mentions from the Abyss #40: Maggoth/Inverted Mind/Sandbreaker/Cadaveric Possession/Aggressive Mutilator

Hey totally crazy, demented and exploited maniacs,
there is a new "Honorable Mentions from the Abyss" episode to read. It's all about some of the albums that Mythrone Promotion sent me time ago in CD format. 2 of them were released by Defense Records (Maggoth and Inverted Mind) while the other 2 by Mythrone Prom itself in collaboration with other labels since the debut album of Sandbreaker was co-released with the same Defense Records and Free Joy Stereo while the split album between Cadaveric Possession and Aggressive Mutilator was edited along with Bestial Invasion Records.
There will be other 2 episodes of "Honorable Mentions from the Abyss" dedicated to Mythrone Prom in the following days to come since ultimately I received a lot of albums from it. They will be 2 of the last articles I'll publish here because, after them, Timpani allo Spiedo will finish its activities, as I explained on this article.
But meanwhile, let's go to discover the bands!

MAGGOTH - "MAGGOTH"
Maggoth (FB page) is a Polish band that is so unprolific that has released so far only 2 full-lenght albums since their foundation in 2002. The last of them, self-titled, shows an interesting sound that is basically focused on a combination between thrash and groove metal but played in a very personal way. In fact, the approach of these 3 crazy guys is quite experimental and also technical, so expect to listen to jazzy drums, dark melodies, dissonant riffs and so on. In brief, a modern, heavy and imaginative thrash/groove metal that, with the addition of lyrics in Polish, is very far from the many Pantera clones out there!

INVERTED MIND - "THREE FACES OF MADNESS (A DRAMA IN THREE ACTS)"
From Kraków with desperate fury comes this trio called Inverted Mind (FB page). They released an awesome third album like "Three Faces of Madness (A Drama in Three Acts)". It's a concept album divided into 3 parts entitled "Anger", "Psychosis" and "Grief". Througout its 9 tracks, you will be suffocated by a very heavy, gloomy and tormenting sludge metal with excruciating, hardcore punk-styled screams that I like a lot. Despair, desolation, pain, anger and other "beautiful" things of this kind are provided by Inverted Mind, that has also the fantastic quality to play in a very aggressive way. So, even if I am not so much into the slow metal, bands like Inverted Mind are really good for me... and, I hope, also for you!

SANDBREAKER - "WORM MASTER"
It's incredible but every time I decide to talk about Sandbreaker (FB page), they decide to spew forth another release! In fact, just during my 32nd birthday, they released their second EP, "Children of the Erg", that I received few days ago from Mythrone Prom. But today it's the turn of their debut album "Worm Master", that sees a band always obsessed with a desertic death/doom metal with very guttural growls and full of lyrics inspired by "Dune". I must say that the band tried, with success, to write, for their first time, a tour de force like the 7-minute titletrack. Anyway, it's incredible that also this time the word "sand" appears (almost) systematically in the Sandbreaker songs. This is a fixation, men!

CADAVERIC POSSESSION/AGGRESSIVE MUTILATOR - "INFLUX OF HATRED"
What happens when you release a split with 2 bands totally devoted to the most putrid extreme metal? It happens that Satan is happy, very fuckin' happy! On a hand, you have Cadaveric Possession, a Polish duo that, through its side called "Rise of Eschaton", plays a raw black/death metal with bestial influences but able to create even 5-minute tracks in mid-tempo like "Call of the Forked Tongue". On the other hand, you have Aggressive Mutilator, another duo, already known on these pages, bombarding the "poor" ears' listeners with a first wave black metal full of sick vocals and a punkish attitude, opening their side called "Den svenska rebelden" with the acoustic intro "Efterbliven som herrefolket". So, Satan is happy and me too!
