Believe it or not, 21st September 2019 was so challenging for me that, in a way or another, I managed to be awake for 23 fukken hours! In fact, before the Go! Fest I had to go by train even in Anzio (a town in south of Rome) for the birthday party of a friend of mine. That's why I was able to be at CSOA Spartaco for the "Italian fastest festival" only starting from 9 pm, and this means that I missed to see the first 5 bands in the bill like the Dutch power violence unit Gewoon Fucking Raggen, the brutal/grindsters Inglorious Basterds and the primitive black/death metallers Thecodontion, that opened the fest. I hoped to see some of them but, incredibly, this time the organizers were so precise and punctual that (almost) every band played during their own scheduled time, so the fest started effectively the hostilities at 5 pm or something else, as anticipated by Pompeo (Taste the Floor/Verano's Dogs/Go! Fest organization) some days before. And as always, this fest has been a great occasion of fun and aggregation  since the venue was really full of people coming from the entire Italy as well from other European countries. Ooookay, but now so what? So, let's go to see what happened in the 9th edition of the Go! Fest!

INTERVIEW TO THECODONTION!!!

This band is Thecodontion, whose I briefly reviewed their new EP "Jurassic" some time ago. Considering that they answered already to a lot of interviews, I tried to ask to them plenty of questions more different than the usual, because, otherwise, they risked to answer to a copycat interview. And, also by opinion of the band, I think I managed to create an original interview.

if the previous appointment with "Honorable Mentions from the Abyss" was entirely focused on heavy/speed metal, the new one is only about a sub-genre that I love since the time in which, 11 years ago circa, I bought "Vengeance War 'Till Death" of Bestial Warlust: bestial black/death metal! So, today I talk about 4 bands playing this kind of (anti-)music that, in some cases, are already famous in the underground scene. And I inform you that, of these 4 bands, 3 of them were sent to me by the promotion agency Qabar Extreme Music from Bangladesh, whom I thank for the promos. But come on, let's not waste any more time and read this article, bestial maniacs!

Antropofagus/Nihilo/Gravestone/Thecodontion (Dragona, 8th February 2019)

If I say correctly, Fucksia was opened one year ago but it has already acquired a very good reputation especially within the metalheads. This because it is a cultural association in which there isn't only a music school named Full Metal Academy but also a sort of pub fit for the live gigs, giving space not only to the emerging bands of the Roman area but also to International bands. For example, nothing else than Fleshcrawl played at Fucksia on 9th February 2019 while Vicious Rumors will be there on 10th April. In addition, Fucksia has been moved very recently to a new (and better) site, close to its old one. In all this, there is a big con: this place is located in Dragona, a suburb of Rome close to Acilia, so it is a bit far from what is stricly considered as the city of Rome. This means that Fucksia is difficult to be reached if you haven't a car. In fact, thanks to a friend of mine (thank you very much, Luca!), on 8th February I reached the place by car because I wanted to destroy my ears with a death metal night in which there was a huge line-up including, in chronological order, Thecodontion, Gravestone, Nihilo from Switzerland, and Antropofagus from Genoa, Italy. Let me say already that this has been a night for the ages!

Nonostante il lavoro, nonostante il giorno infrasettimanale, e nonostante quella cazzo di pioggia battente, giovedì 13 dicembre, come già anticipato sul live report del Grind Galà, sono andato lo stesso al 360 per farmi devastare i timpani con un bel po' di black/death metal devoto alla vecchia scuola. A organizzare 'sto delirio, ci hanno pensato il collettivo antifascista Metal Against Shit (di cui fa parte Ulderico dei Verano's Dogs) e la Sycamore Shows (di cui invece fanno parte membri dei Seventh Genocide), cioè due entità che hanno già collaborato in passato per organizzare delle serate che sono sempre di un certo interesse per i cultori del metal estremo underground invitando anche gruppi stranieri molto rispettati, come gli anarco-black metallers inglesi Dawn Ray'd. Stavolta, a dividere il palco con i Verano's Dogs, ci sono stati i grandissimi Sepolcro (che mi hanno gasato un casino, come leggerete fra poco), e due giovani leve romane al debutto live come i barbarici Thecodontion e gli psichedelici Bedsore, entrambi usciti quest'anno con delle cassettine che hanno ricevuto ottime critiche anche da siti molto quotati. Quindi, leggiamo cos'è successo in questa serata, e che si dia inizio allo sterminio sonoro!
