Band: Neige et Noirceur
Album: Les Ténèbres Modernes
Genre: Black metal
Year: 2016
Time: 40 min circa
Rating: 84/100
After the majestic Forteresse, here you are another MNQ band! This time I will tell you about Neige et Noirceur ("Snow and Blackness" in French), a solo-project from Candiac (Québec, Canada) of Sion Daus (aka Zifond), who founded it in 2005. His project is very prolific all the more so because the fresher album, "Les Ténèbres Modernes" (released on 24th June 2016 under Sepulchral Productions), is the fifth one of Neige et Noirceur's discography. And I must say already that it is a very ambitious effort both musically and lyrically, also because "Les Ténèbres Modernes" is a concept-album about the hell of WWI and its atrocities.

Forteresse - "Thèmes pour la Rébellion" (Sepulchral Productions, 2016)
Band: Forteresse
Album's title: Thèmes pour la Rébellion
Genre: Black metal
Year: 2016
Time: 43 min circa
Rating: 78/100
Now we are entering the territories of the "Metal Noir Quebecois" (MNQ), a kind of secessionist black metal movement from Québec, a land not considered by its band like a mere province of Canada but like an autonomous territory with traditions, language (in fact, the French is the official language of Québec) and culture completely different than the rest of the Nation. All this is due to the particular history of this Province, that was colonized by France during 16-17th centuries before it surrendered the Québec to the Great Britain after its defeat in the Seven Years' War.

Deadly Carnage - "Chasm" (Self-released, 2016)
Band: Deadly Carnage
EP's title: Chasm
Genre: Post-Black metal
Year: 2016
Time: 9 min circa
Rating: 60/100
To celebrate 10 years of activity from their foundation dated 21 December 2006, the Italians Deadly Carnage (from Rimini, Emilia-Romagna) have had a good idea: self-releasing a two-song EP titled "Chasm" recorded at the De Opera Studio of Viserba (Rimini) between July and October 2015. They did this EP in a very big way releasing it in vinyl and CD formats with commemorative pin, autographed photo, the psychotic video of "Hole of Mirrors" displayable on YouTube plus a cover artwork by their guitarist Alexios. So much efforts deserves a good review on Timpani allo Spiedo 'zine!

Shed the Skin - "Harrowing Faith" (Hells Headbangers Records, 2016)
Band: Shed the Skin
Album's title: Harrowing Faith
Genre: Thrashing Death metal
Year: 2016
Time: 39 min circa
Rating: 62/100
This review is no other than the translation in English with some differences of my review published through Heavymetalwebzine.it:

The Shed the Skin, from the great extreme metal scene of Cleveland (Ohio), are the new supergroup that likes so much to the Hells Headbangers Records. Their genesis dated back to October 20th 2012 when the 15th anniversary from the death of Tom Rojack from Blood of Christ (died in Oct 19th 1997 by falling down a staircase at only 28 years old) was celebrated through a live show. In that occasion, there was also the exhibition of the tribute-band of Blood of Christ including as members, among others, their ex-guitarist Matt Sorg (Ringworm) and no other than the drummer of the great Incantation Kyle Severn. But that night was so exciting that the two veterans Matt and Kyle decided to form a band on Blood of Christ-style with 4 members of 5 of that tribute-band (including also the bassist Ed Stephens), also if the singer Duane Morris of Terror quits right after to be already substituted by the unstoppable singer/guitarist Ash Thomas. So, the new band, completed by the ex-From the Depths keyboarder Brian Boston, decided to call itself Shed the Skin, just like a song of Blood of Christ. Then, the guys released a two-song EP via Hells Headbangers during 2014 to anticipate the long-awaited debut album of the band. Finally, that debut album has arrived in May 21th 2016 always via HHR both in vinyl and CD with the very clean production of Dan Swano, guru of the Swedish death metal, at the renowned Unisound Studios. Ergo, there are all the premises for an old-school death metal masterpiece...and instead...
FIRST EDITORIAL: TIMPANI ALLO SPIEDO RETURNS!!!!!!
TIMPANI ALLO SPIEDO RETURNS (again)!
Unfortunately, Timpani allo Spiedo has been closed for one year because of my involvement into the fantastic editorial staff of Heavymetalwebzine (in which I involved nowadays).
But, when Timpani allo Spiedo remained in the shadow, I had organized two live shows in my city, Rome, under the name of Timpani allo Spiedo between 2015 and 2016, also if the last of them...ahem, failed, unfortunately. Instead, a book of mine about the 80's heavy metal will be released by a Genoa's (Italy) editor during the next months, probably for February of 2017. Hence, it is a very intense and fantastic period for me, and it continues to be so, not only for the activities cited just above.
Then, it's time to recover this webzine from the beginning, starting a new experience and writing a bunch of articles in my spaghetti-"Broken English".
By the way, many reviews are expected to be published here, also if, for now, the first of them will be my some future reviews for Heavymetalwebzine.it, only translated in English for the purpose of Timpani allo Spiedo. So, expect articles about new albums like "Harrowing Faith" of Shed the Skin or about forgotten classics like "Demise" of Death Courier and so on and so on!
Ok, I want some action now and be prepared to feel burns your fuckin' ears!
