Everyone who follows the rawer underground extreme metal knows who is Pete Helmkamp. For the ignorant people, he is into the scene even since 1987 when he founded, along with other two guys (now in the mighty Ares Kingdom), the legendary Order from Chaos becoming after a  stalwart of the Angelcorpse. Nowadays Pete is unstoppable like never before now since he is busy with 3 bands: Abhomine (his solo-project debuting this year with an excellent album released under Osmose Productions), the same Angelcorpse and Kerasphorus, both reunited recently. In particular, Kerasphorus were founded in 2009 like a superband formed not only by Pete but also by the drummer James Read, the incorruptible man behind the Canadian war-machine Revenge with a past with the similar Conqueror. The line-up was completed by a certain Benjamin Wolaniuk, also ex-Horn of Dagoth. Well, but why are we telling about Kerasphorus? Simple: because the Hells Headbangers Records has reissued on CD on 2^nd September 2016 both the EPs of Kerasphorus, originally released by Nuclear War Now! Productions between 2010 and 2011, year of the split of the band before their reunion in 2015 with two great Angelcorpse/Perdition Temple’s members: Gene Palubicki and Ronnie Parmer. And I must already that HHR has did very well to reissue the old Kerasphorus’ material!

All Italian split for the Czech label Doomentia Records! In fact, it had the brilliant idea to unite in a sole production the Romans Morbo and the Sicilians Bunker 66, an old acquaintance of Timpani allo Spiedo when I interviewed even them with those very very long and boring questions that I did in the early days of the ‘zine. Well, this 4-song split is titled “Into the Morbid Bunker” and has released on 7’’ vinyl on 23^rd June 2016.

2 years ago I reviewed (in Italian) for heavymetalwebzine.it the reissue via Nuclear War Now! Prod of the fantastic debut album of the Japanese Abigail. And now I review their last album, released on CD on 22nd August 2016 always under NWN! to celebrate the 25^th anniversary of Abigail, a band so prolific about minor productions that, shortly after the 6^th album’s release, has spewed forth via Sabbath’s Fire Records a live album in France even dating back to 15 years ago! But the good thing is, today as yesterday, Abigail, guided always by the drummer Youhei and the vocalist/bassist Yasuyuki Suzuki, aren’t really changed throughout their career, showing today again a musical fury and an underground integrity like few others. Furthermore, the cover artwork of their last album, “The Final Damnation”, was made by a prestigious name: Chris Moyen aka Thorncross, an artist who certainly needs no introduction.

After the majestic Forteresse, here you are another MNQ band! This time I will tell you about Neige et Noirceur ("Snow and Blackness" in French), a solo-project from Candiac (Québec, Canada) of Sion Daus (aka Zifond), who founded it in 2005. His project is very prolific all the more so because the fresher album, "Les Ténèbres Modernes" (released on 24th June 2016 under Sepulchral Productions), is the fifth one of Neige et Noirceur's discography. And I must say already that it is a very ambitious effort both musically and lyrically, also because "Les Ténèbres Modernes" is a concept-album about the hell of WWI and its atrocities.

New EP and first-ever live appearance for Black Cilice!

This extreme German label will release the new production of the mysterious Portuguese black metal band Black Cilice, a two-song EP titled "Nocturnal Mysticism". This release will see the (dark) light on 16th December 2016, in perfect conjunction with the first-ever live appearance of Black Cilice during that same day in Utrecht, Netherlands together with Folteraar, Faceless Entity and Warden.
