After the death/doom metal agony by Eternal Rot, these Apatheia are another band belonging to the sulfurous roster of Godz ov War Productions. Today we'll talk about a Polish band that consists of three very young musicians so enthusiastic that they released in 2018 their debut album without producing anything before it. So, I'll present you "Konstelacja dziur".

Entirely sung in Polish, "Konstelacja dziur" is a 51-minute journey starting with "Odmętnia", that show a violent black metal which reminds me a lot of Funeral Mist. But this is only an appetizer because, after that, Apatheia express a very interesting kind of black metal that see an alternation between (ultra)-fast moments and more atmospheric/melodic parts that, in certain times, are into the realm of the depressive black metal. In particular, I realized that the second side of the album is more melodic than the first one, as it is shown especially into its longest tracks (10 minutes): "Boże ciało" (that lasts almost 11 minutes) and the closing  "Supernowa". So, the band, without being experimental in any way, offers a great spectrum of different situations, going beyond the blasting parts full of icy or dissonant riffs that you can hear from time to time.
Other interesting features comes, for example, from the vocal department, that's very effective because of spectral and suffering vocals while the bassplayer is sometimes able to create creepy basslines that, along with the guitars that play different riffs, can lead to estranging atmospheres (like in the first moments of "Boże ciało"). Enough creative is the drumming of Anůnn (that plays also in Absque Cor, another black metal band supported by Godz ov War) who is able to play through techniques unusual for a black metal band, like in "Supernowa". But, despite all this, I don't like so much something in "Konstelacja dziur"...
...and that "something" is mainly the tendency by Apatheia to play frequently in instrumental mode in many songs (especially in "Boże ciało" and in the following "Raj"), and this is a shame because the vocals could make them in a more effective way. In addition, some parts (like the melodic ones in "Ślepe oddanie") aren't developed so well while the track "Raj", after a while, is a bit static. Fortunately, there is a closing song titled "Supernowa" which ends the album through a very suggestive manner!

So, "Konstelacja dziur" isn't surely a masterpiece and I think that the band had to release something before already producing this debut album. At the same time, it isn't surely a bad album because we are in presence of a black metal band which combines an old-school black metal with nice ideas and, above all, they are so young that I am already wondering what they will be able to create in the future years to come! As last thing, I have to underline that, for their very first live gig on November 2018, they opened for a Finnish black metal band of pure kult as Rienaus. This was an amazing way to Apatheia to start their live activities, don't you think?
