After a long live report about a grindcore/power violence festival, today we'll back to talk about a thrash metal slaughter released by Defense Records. For the truth, "Sin misericordia", the new EP by Dekapited, was originally released in 2017 by the small Chilean label Suicide Records, and, then, reissued by other labels, included the same Defense Rec. Its version is a little bit special because it contains not only the original 6 tracks of the EP but also other 6 numbers taken from a 2017 show in which these 4 Chilean maniacs (whose singer/guitarist Camilo Pierattini plays also in the raw black/deathsters Invocation Spells, that belongs to the roster of the infamous Hells Headbangers Records) opened for nothing else than Slayer! I notice you already that there is a great difference in quality between the studio and the live tracks, as you'll see soon.

"Sin misericordia" ("without mercy" in Spanish) is opened by a strange intro for a release of this kind because it is the famous main theme, written by Bernard Hermann, of the Alfred Hitchcock's movie "Psycho". After that, the first real song "Aniquilación total" starts and, from here, you have to expect a music that is dubbed by the same band as a "aggressive and wicked thrash metal". This definition is perfect since we're talking about a really violent form of thrash metal with many ultra-fast tempos, a bestial vocal performance of the singer Camilo Pierattini (that, sometimes, accentuate the letters with the result to give more wickedness to the music), and some black metal influences. So, this approach to the thrash metal reminds me a lot of nowadays Norwegian bands like Deathhammer and Inculter. Within all this massacre, my favorite song is surely the destructive "Mundo decadente", that perfectly represent all the aforementioned features (and not only them) also thanks to great guitar solos and with the surprising addition of a bass solo (speaking about the bass, there is need to say that the work of Inti Astudillo is awesome!)

Instead, the live tracks are less effective. This is due not to the songs but to a very very dirty and raw production that, even though it gives to the music more black metal vibes, make confusing and not so comprehensible the various numbers. At this point, I think that the live tracks are a useless addition, also because there are no traces about them on the booklet nor in the tracklist, so you can't know their titles, unless you are a big fan of Dekapited.
Speaking about the booklet, this is surely good since it contains some nice live pics but, apart for the aforementioned problem about the live tracks, the page about the credits have many out of order types, and this a shame. So, the booklet could be done in a better way.

But don't worry about these negative considerations because Dekapited have spewed forth 4 tracks (+intro and outro) in which you will be crushed very well by a truly violent '80s thrash metal made a little dark through some black metal influences. Maybe, the band, in some points, plays in a too chaotic way but, anyway, don't forget that all this, reinforced by anti-authoritarian and anti-religious themes completely sang in Spanish (and you know how much I love this language in the metal music!), is played through that lovely bestial fury typical of the South American extreme metal. And I believe that this kind of fury makes more appealing this band (whose CD was sent to me from the usual Mythrone Promotion) to the maniacs of the underground metal! Said in other words: Defense Records thought very well to reissue this EP!
