It's incredible but the almighty Blasphemy, also if they are alive and always on the warpath, don't realize something new since their long-awaited reunion happened in 1999, when this legendary band became a quintet due to the addition as a stable member of Ryan Förster of Conqueror fame, now known with the moniker Deathlörd of Abomination and War Apocalypse. Just he gave birth in 2013 to his no compromise creature named Death Worship. After 3 years of gestation, the usual Nuclear War Now! Prod has released in the previous year, reissueing it recently with a new cover artwork, the debut EP of Death Worship titled "Extermination Mass", a new manifest devoted completely to the verb of Blasphemy. This is due also because their same singer, Nocturnal Grave Desecrator and Black Winds, helped Ryan with some vocals and effects while you can find as a session drummer nothing else than James Read of Conqueror/Revenge fame. At this point, you could say that Conqueror, formed in fact by the duo Förster/Read, are back with Death Worship. But this is a total new adventure, and, with 3 artists of this kind involved in it, "Extermination Mass" is a carpet bombardment like few others!

In fact, Death Worship are one of the most fundamentalist expressions of the bestial black/death metal because, in practice, they respect every feature of the genre. The assault is mega-merciless due, for example, to a James Read that seems to be a human machine-gun reaching total demented speeds but playing some good mid-tempos, as shown yet by the opening track "Abomination Storm". Meanwhile, the guitars are cavernous but, at the same time, enough intelligible, spewing forth some cacophonous solos when they are needed. Instead, if the bass is buried by the other instruments, the vocals are so abominable to be voted to the destruction of everything human singing about genocide, evocation rites, massacre of the weak, Antichrist, Superion, war until the entire world will be nothing else than an enormous ruin and neither the ash will remain of humanity. And be worry that you will be crushed with painful joy by this (anti)-music through 6 neurotic songs until the death bells of the conclusive "The Chaos Trance", followed by a short outro full of desolation.
There's nothing to add about this ultimate massacre known as "Extermination Mass", available in the CD/vinyl/tape formats. It is the purest bestial black/death metal in the ultra-classic Canadian way and you can only love or hate it also because you could expect nothing else from people like Ryan and co., so it's a music now predictable and obvious. But it's incredible that, despite all these years spent to play substantially the same music with such an eternal passion for it, they are still able to create fantastic songs like "Superion Rising" or "Desolation Summoning". Now there is need to understand if and when Blasphemy will be back finally with some new stuff...or is it a chimera?
